Marian “Marilyn” Guishard, retired social worker and educator, passed away May 13, 2021 at the age of 95. Born on January 25, 1926 in New York City to the late Vivia and Arthur McCalla, Marilyn was passionate about many things, especially family. The definition of which she expanded to include countless dear friends throughout her life. Her capacity to love – inclusively, generously and unconditionally – was boundless. The consummate hostess, once welcomed into her home you could expect to find warmth, cheer, mouthwatering food and always a dash of lively chaos.
An exceptional avid bridge player and voracious reader, Marilyn was brilliant and unflappable. Fiercely independent, she was a role model for living life on her own terms to the very fullest. Always up for absolutely any adventure, she lived, laughed and loved with abandon and joy. Her resilience and capacity to optimistically approach whatever life might have in store was an inspiration.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved sons Kingsley (Rita) & Gregory (Yelena), grandchildren Anthony & Michelle, great-grandchildren Anthony, Marquis, Christian & Tyler, great-great grandchildren Asia and Kinsley, nieces and nephews Patrice, Lloyd (LaVora), Michael (Kara) & Katie and countless other adored extended family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her cherished sister Lois (Lloyd), nieces Alison & Cecille and daughters-in-law Gail and Jule.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by all those whom were blessed to have been touched by her beautiful spirit.
