Born on October 17, 1957, in Astoria, New York, she was the daughter of James Pappas and the late Fannie Carayas Pappas. Marie was a proud graduate of Francis Lewis High School and went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She dedicated her career to helping others as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. Marie had a passion for baking, especially rainbow cookies, and loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gus Scarpias; her children, George, James, Stacey, and Talia; and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Tristan, Kaylee, Dino, Giovanni, Alessia, Gianna, and Paul.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232.
