Marlene R. Lux, (nee Desiderio) 78, of Sarasota, FL died October 8, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of the Academy of the Sisters of Mercy and Gwynedd-Mercy College (now University), receiving a BA in Education. After working for two years, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Merion, PA. While a sister of Mercy she taught at both the elementary and high school levels. In 1970, Marlene left the religious life and in 1974, married Dale Lux.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Lauren; sister, Kathy (Jerry) and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cara.
Marlene will be remembered most for her love of her family, kindness to friends, hard work at the Food Bank and excellence at Trivia.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota. Family and friends are invited back to the house for refreshments after the ceremony.
