Losing Matt is so sad. We'll miss his calls that always made us laugh. He loved to tease Nicco, saying he remembered to call us first to wish us (e.g., happy birthday, holiday, etc). Yes, Matt's banter for bragging rights, be it this, or sports, is what got everyone laughing and which will be greatly missed by Bob and I and those who knew him.

Kathy,
My heart goes out to you, and to the rest of your family.
I could not believe what I was seeing. I saw the caption, tribute to Matthew , I opened it thinking he got an award or some thing. I was so shocked, I just kept looking at the screen tears running down my cheeks. I have known Matt since he was born. I loved that little guy. And I loved the man he became. RIP Matthew
Love, Sally

Dear Steve: I remember Matty as a young teenager, a sweet kid who seemed to look up to you. I marveled at how well you two got along and how much you looked like each other.

The universe seems off-kilter when a loved one dies in the prime of his life. I wish you strength in the coming weeks and send all my love to you and your wonderful mother.

Matt was a wonderful, caring young man. We got to know him through our son Nick who lives in Richmond, VA. Matt always had a kind word for everyone and was a true professional in his work. He will be missed and we are deeply sorry for this loss.

I was so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. I was his dentist in Richmond. He was a great guy who I enjoyed seeing and talking to about real estate and everything going on in his life. His office was just 2 doors down from mine. I have missed seeing him since he moved to Florida. My deepest sympathy to everyone in his extended family. Bill Falls

Matty was a good hearted, fun and caring person. I watched him go from lil bro tagging along with Steve as a little guy to someone I regarded as a friend with our own relationship. He was a great competitor, a hooper and a hard worker in his professional life.

I have a lot of good memories from
different stages in his life that I was fortunate to be a part of. One legendary memory is when Matty and I played in a flag football league. He gave up his body and injured his shoulder to make a catch and ended up on workers comp for about 6 weeks, all to win a championship (that we did in fact win). Our management wasn’t happy but everyone realized Matty had his priorities straight (flag football then work) and earned the ultimate respect.

On behalf of my family, my sincere condolences to you Mrs. DeBlock and Steve and your family.

First, our thoughts are with my mother who has been strong as an oak woman, handling this terrible tragedy.

Matt, so many great memories, you were a smart, competitive, fun person who loved your family!

A memory from a few years ago, Matt joined our annual summer family vacation to Myrtle Beach. We spent way too much money on fireworks, had absolutely no idea what we bought and ironically put on epic display later that night! Afterward, Matt and I noticed most of our vacation resort came out to watch too, lot's of cheering! Great family moment, I'll never forget!

We Love and Miss You!
