Nora Alicia Fruehwald

February 15, 1952February 16, 2021

Nora ALICIA Byrd Fruehwald passed February 16, 2021 into her eternal rest surrounded by devoted family and friends at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. She fought courageously for 10 years, always with a smile and positive outlook.

Born February 15, 1952, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to Thomas Alexander (T.A.) and Edythe (Russ) Byrd. Moving to Sarasota FL with her family in 1965.

Alicia was a proud 1970 graduate of Sarasota High, as were her father (1930), siblings and both children. While at Sarasota High, Alicia met Dale Fruehwald, Class of 1968 and they married in 1971.

Always wanting to be a bedside nurse, Alicia became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1973 and worked along side Dr. Charles J. Weiss until health concerns caused her retirement in 2015.

Alicia is survived by her husband of 50 years Dale, daughter Kristie Wilson (Chris) Palm Harbor, son Matthew (LeeAnn D'Amora) Sarasota. Sister Edna Swartzlander (Darryle) Indianapolis, brother Thomas Byrd Sarasota. Brother in law Douglas Fruehwald (Shari) Sarasota. Grandchildren Kira and Jaxon Wilson Palm Harbor. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family wants to thank the medical teams that worked so fervently for Alicia and all the prayer warriors she had. It was a journey but her new home is everlasting. God's promise fulfilled.

In Alicia's memory she asked that you show kindness to all, smile as you pass someone, hug when you can, love deeply, always say I love you with every encounter every day to those you love.

One memory I have is shortly after our son was born, Alicia gave us a beautiful Christmas stocking she had made for him.
I remember telling Alicia this last Christmas, that it's been 30 years now, Bryce is home and still loves his stocking.
Alicia, we will never forget what a kind and thoughtful friend you always were to us.

Alicia was my best friend and Bill's girlfriend. We traveled together a lot be it to the casinos or in the motorhome. She is at peace now and that I hope is comforting to the family. Bill and I love you all.
