Peter Christian Orser

Peter “Pete” Orser, 79, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on September 19, 2026. Born on January 13, 1947, in Ossining, New York to Herbert and Dorthy Orser, Pete was the oldest of five siblings and grew up with a strong sense of responsibility, loyalty, and family pride.

Pete moved to Sarasota in 1972 and quickly made it home. He dedicated an incredible 63 years of his life to the Detroit Diesel industry, including 44 years with Florida Detroit Diesel-Allison in Tampa, FL, where he was known for his unmatched work ethic, deep technical knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the people he worked alongside.

Beyond his career, Pete poured his heart into the Sarasota community. For 20+ years, he volunteered with Sarasota Babe Ruth Baseball, supporting local youth and becoming a steady, encouraging presence for countless players. His love for the kids and the program left a lasting impact that will be remembered for generations.

In his later years, Pete found joy in traveling with his wife and children. Whether off roading Jeeps in Sedona, cruising through the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, or spending cherished time in Nashville and New York, he embraced every moment of adventure and family connection.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard and Donald; daughter Jacqulynn Orser; and son Christopher Mincey.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Angela Orser; his children Bryan Orser (Lisa) of Catskill, NY; Deborha Erben of Stuart, FL; Kimberly Orser of Nashville, TN; Keith Orser (Lauren) of Nashville, TN; Kyle Orser (Tera) of Franklin, TN; and Angel Orser of Hope, ME. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Pete is further survived by his sisters Nancy Vandermark of Accord, NY, and Susan Korsgard of Franklin, NC, who will forever cherish their memories with their big brother.

Pete will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched through his work, his volunteer service, and his kindness. His legacy of dedication, generosity, and love will live on in all who knew him.

A celebration of Pete’s life will be held at Sarasota Babe Ruth, 185 S. Pompano Avenue, Sarasota, FL, on October 24, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

This will be a very casual gathering in honor of Pete’s love for the ballpark and the community he supported for so many years. No black attire, please.
