Born in Weggis, Canton Luzern, Switzerland, Primo carried with him a lifelong appreciation for his Swiss roots, traditions, and values that were instilled in him at a young age. While he remained deeply grounded in those traditions, he also possessed a bold and adventurous spirit that allowed him to break the mold—building a life that spanned continents, cultures, and ideas, while always staying true to who he was.
He pursued his education with distinction, earning a Master’s degree from Zurich University of Applied Science, laying the foundation for a remarkable and influential career.
Primo was a highly respected Senior Executive in the global Food & Beverage industry, working with renowned flavor houses including Naarden International, Quest International, and Kerry Group. He was widely recognized for his expertise and innovation, holding multiple patents and famously creating what many considered the finest strawberry flavor in the industry. In recognition of his contributions, he held Emeritus Status with The Society of Flavor Chemists. His extraordinary sense of smell and taste made him not only a pioneer in his field, but also a talented chef and a true connoisseur of delicious fine food and wine.
Brilliant and endlessly curious, Primo spoke multiple languages and was a mentor to many, generously sharing his knowledge and passion throughout his life and career across the globe, and supporting them in their life journeys. He was known for his big, gregarious personality and his ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He had a natural gift for connection, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. While he could be tough at times, it was always with the best of intentions—guided by his deep care for others and his desire to see them succeed.
Beyond his professional achievements, Primo was a passionate advocate for bringing people of different nationalities together. He served as Board President of the Swiss American Club in both Sarasota and Baltimore, where he fostered connection, culture, and friendship—often over a perfectly barbecued bratwurst, with classic Swiss folk music playing in the background. He had a remarkable ability to read the room and bring people together with ease. Whether by pulling out his harmonica to share a tune, telling a well-timed story, or delivering a joke that lit up the moment, Primo created an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome, connected, and at home.
At the heart of Primo’s life was his family. He shared a profound and enduring love with his wife of over sixty years, Ruth—his beloved “Ruthli”—whom he cherished deeply. Together, they built a life centered on love, partnership, and unwavering devotion. As their family journeyed across countries and cultures, Primo ensured that no matter where they were in the world, home was always defined by being together.
He was a devoted father to Sven Bader (Isabel), Lars Bader (Michelle), and Liv Bader-Shores (Bryan), and a proud and loving grandfather to Aubrey, Niklas, and Keegan. His commitment to his family was immense—he would do anything and everything for them, always putting them first. He was their constant, their guide, and their greatest supporter, creating a strong foundation that carried them through every chapter of life.
Primo created unforgettable adventures for his family, filling their lives with experiences, laughter, and lasting memories. Whether through travels, shared traditions, or simple everyday moments, he made life feel full and meaningful. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: playing jass, indoor biking while enjoying movies and sports, and spending peaceful time in the “Bermuda” sunroom with his bride, watching nature unfold outside on the water and on the golf course. He lived with strength, creativity, and a deep appreciation for life, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and togetherness that will endure for generations.
He will be remembered for his warmth, strength, brilliance, humor, and boundless love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the innovations he created, and the memories shared by those who knew him best.
A private family celebration of life will be held in April.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts and minds.
