Ralph was born in LeRoy, Illinois on July 11, 1930, to Leo and Ola Swallow. He served in the US Army
Ralph is predeceased by his wife, Alice Marie Swallow, brothers Vernell Swallow , Howard Swallow and sister Fern Cozard. He is survived by his daughters Janie Johnes (Syd) and Mary Turvey (John Moore), his sister Nora Thompson, grandchildren Julie Herringdine and Karey Prather, great-grandchildren Allicyn Herringdine, Tracey Prather, and Katelyn Prather, and his brother, Carl Swallow.
