Richard was born in Sarasota, Florida, on November 16, 1942. He graduated from Sarasota High School and went on to build a career in the grocery industry, working for Publix. On September 9, 1990, he married the love of his life, Kveta Rhoades.
Richard was devoted to his family and friends and enjoyed traveling. He will be remembered for the relationships he cherished and the many memories he created with those he loved.
He is survived by his children, Shannon T. Wilson, Darrell W. Wilson and Michelle Blackwell; and his grandchildren, Tiffany, Trevor, and Devin Wilson, and Brandon, Shawn, and Christian Blackwell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
