

Richard “Dick” Eugene Wright, age 86, of Sarasota, died at home surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, on Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was born December 6, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Earl Charles and Myrtle Irene (Courtney) Wright.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before moving his family to Sarasota, Florida in 1956, where he spent most of his career as a painting contractor and co-owner of Mom’s Corner Café. He was a member of the Glen Peters American Legion Post 266. He spent his free time bowling, golfing and playing pool with family and friends. He and Marilyn moved to Jesup, Georgia for a short time before returning to Sarasota to live out their golden years with dear friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by sisters, Gwendolyn and Carol; brother, Earl; daughter, Donna Postma.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Marilyn Noone Wright; sisters, Beradine Clinard, Geraldine Gest; children, Angela (Lamar) Mason, Pamela (Mike) Browning, Richard, Stephanie Ruh, Douglas (Lisa), Monica Shannon, Rebecca (Jack) Wilhelm, Kevin, Arin (Shelley); 29 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and many friends he considered family.
Family is receiving friends during a visitation on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Evening funeral services will be conducted immediately following the visitation in the Legacy Chapel at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home at 7:00 pm. Entombment services with United States Marine Corps honors will be conducted on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 am, at the garden mausoleum building at Palms-Robarts Memorial Park.
