Thumper was an Air Force brat, his family settled in Arcadia, Florida where he grow-up. He graduated from DeSoto High School and was member of the Key Club and Doo Doo Blues. He attended college on the east coast of Florida and settled in Sarasota where he met and married his wife.
Thumper was predeceased by his father, Bobby Joe Blackburn and brother, Bobby Joe Blackburn Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Susan; daughters, Suzi Blackburn-Minahan (Andy) and Laura Blackburn (Josh Burkett); four grandchildren, Lily, Addison, Robby and Cayden ;mother, Judy; brother, Joe Blackburn (Luca); sister, Suzi Hilton; nieces, nephews and a circle of good friends.
Thumper was a member of Eagles #2756. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Thumper was a big Gator and Dolphin football fan.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 1 at 6 PM with a gathering one hour prior at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota.
