Bob was born in Albany, New York to Samuel and Cecelia Matthews. He went to Albany High School and got his GED while in the Army. He worked for Morewhite Inc. in Albany as a truck driver and warehouse forman for over 25 years. Bob enjoyed several activities over the years. Playing shuffleboard, square dancing and playing bingo.
Bob is survived by his best friend Virginia Derrick, a daughter Linda Grugan and a son Robert W. Matthews (Claudia). Five grandchildren, Four great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He also has a sister Joan VanWormer, several nieces and nephews too.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Barbara Alverson Matthews, his parents, three sisters and a brother.
A memorial service will e at Memory's Garden Cemetery on June 7th (time to be announced) with a celebration of life to follow.
