
The son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Sherwood, Bob (or "Buzz") was born in Tully, NY on October 22, 1939 and raised in Seneca Falls, NY. Originally schooled in a modest one-room schoolhouse, Bob excelled academically and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester and masters degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Bob worked his entire career in finance at Xerox Corporation, from which he retired in 1999.
Generous, brilliant and warm-hearted, Bob was an avid and talented golfer who also enjoyed tennis, skiing and world travel. He volunteered actively in his community in many capacities. He spent many years volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and, at the time of his passing , served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the highly successful ,and nationally esteemed Bay Village of Sarasota, a nonprofit Life Plan Community.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joan Kapper Sherwood; his brother, Richard (Cynthia) Sherwood; his daughters, Susan Sherwood, Catherine (Scott) Fisler, Cynthia (Mark) Jones, and Robin Segal; and his son, Robert B. (Jennifer) Sherwood. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Pauline Mills Sherwood who died in 1999.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Bay Village Endowment Fund.
A celebration of life is planned in Sarasota, Florida in the near future.
