Ronald Fortin

Mr. Fortin was born in Fall River, MA on December 19, 1936, to the late Joseph and Reina Fortin. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Providence College in 1968. In 2003, he received the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College of Financial Services.

A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mr. Fortin faithfully served in numerous leadership roles, including Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He founded the St. Jude Food Pantry and helped connect the parish with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation campaign. With the support of his fellow Knights and his devoted wife, Jan, the food pantry grew to serve more than 100 families each week, while the annual toy drive provided Christmas gifts to over 550 families each year.

In recognition of his dedication to serving others, Mr. Fortin received the Assisting the Needy Award from the Knights of Columbus Council in 2013, along with Knight of the Year honors and numerous other awards throughout his years of faithful service to the church and community.

Mr. Fortin is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Janet Elizabeth Fortin.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Gayle Ann Fortin (Darren), Mary Rincon (Todd), Stephen Carl Fortin (Karen), Allen Jones (Linda) and Kevin Jones (Anton); grandchildren, Eric Christopher Fortin (Juliette), Kyle Justin Fortin, Zachary Roy Lesmerises (Brittany), Julien Lesmerises and Chad Jones and great granddaughter, Everleigh Lynn Lesmerises.

Cremation was chosen with a memorial service held at a later date.
