October 13, 1945 – June 9, 2025
If you heard uproarious laughter or felt a sudden craving for flamingos and sandy beaches, that was just Sharon Miller Walker making her grand entrance into the great beyond. On June 9, 2025, Sharon left us from Brandon, FL, but not without leaving behind a legacy that's as vibrant and unforgettable as one of her favorite floral Hawaiian shirts.
Born on October 13, 1945, in Washington D.C. Sharon was the cherished daughter of Helen and Albert Miller who brought her to FL when she was 2 years old. She is a proud 1963 graduate of Sarasota High School. Sharon went on to charm her way through Manatee Junior College and eventually landed at the University of Florida, where she met the love of her life, David Walker. Sparks flew, stories were shared, and on May 6, 1972, Sharon and David tied the knot. Theirs was a love story for the ages, celebrated over more than 50 years of marriage filled with humor, devotion, and the occasional spirited debate over whether flamingo and palm tree décor was "too much."
Sharon’s family was her true treasure. She was the beloved matriarch to her two children, Erin Black and John Walker, and the doting grandmother to six grandchildren: Julia Dardaine, Carson Miller, Liliana Walker, Johnnie Black, and Chase Walker. Her love extended even further to her six great-grandchildren: Helen, Catherine, Isabelle, James, George, and Claire Dardaine. As the family’s fearless leader, Sharon was the glue that held everyone together, always ready with a warm hug, a quick joke, and a knack for turning the mundane into the extraordinary.
Sharon also shared her larger-than-life personality with the world as a dedicated nurse. Her career brought her to Cedarcrest in New Hampshire, a specialized pediatric medical facility and school where she poured her heart into caring for children. Sharon’s gift wasn’t just in her medical expertise; it was in her ability to make every child, parent, and coworker feel seen, heard, and loved.
When she wasn’t making a difference in lives, Sharon’s soul was happiest at the ocean. She had an unshakable love for the beach, the salty air, and all things flamingo. Her laughter could rival the sound of the waves, and her ability to tell a story—boisterous, funny, and delightfully embellished—was nothing short of legendary.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Albert Miller, her sister Maureen Holton, and countless palm tree and flamingo-themed accessories that couldn’t withstand her zestful use. She is survived by her adoring husband David, her two children, her six grandchildren, her six great-grandchildren, and her brother Martin Miller, all of whom now carry the torch of her humor, kindness, and love for family.
This world was brighter, louder, and infinitely more fun with Sharon in it. As we navigate life without her, we’ll do so by honoring her legacy: laughing often, choosing joy, and perhaps sneaking a flamingo into the décor where it doesn’t quite belong. Sharon’s laughter and love will echo through generations, reminding us all to treasure every moment, cherish family, and always, always embrace the weird and wonderful.
Rest in peace, Sharon Miller Walker—you will be deeply missed and wildly celebrated.
