Shirley Sutherland

She was born on April 12, 1932, in Pine Township, Montcalm County, Michigan. Shirley was raised on a farm with her brother John.

Shirley had two children, Lori and James "Jim". She made her way from the farm near Stanton, MI to Detroit, MI to Sarasota, FL, where she served as a kindergarten teacher for most of her career at Wilkinson Elementary School. She also enjoyed being a part of the church choir. In 2024 she moved to Spence, Georgia to live with her daughter. She went full circle back to living in the country, seeing deer almost daily. She loved to decorate for every holiday and season.

Shirley was devoted to her family, her faith, her friends and her students. And while her son, Jim preceded her in death, she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lori; daughter-in-law, Susan; her grandchildren, Travis and his wife, Jaclyn, Meagan and her husband Kevin, Cameron, and Christian and his wife Kenzie; and great grandchildren, Braddock, Brielle and Caden; along with her extended family and many friends.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of God, her devotion to her family and the many lives she touched throughout an extraordinary life.
