She came to the US in November of 1961 and settled in New Jersey. She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City. Sophia worked in New York City for many years before relocating to Sarasota in 2000. She also worked for Comfort Keepers, as a caregiver, for many years.
Sophia was preceded in death by her parents, Piotr and Bernice Bucik; husband, Walter Horbacz; and sisters, Jane and Helena.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher and Mark; daughter, Diana (Jack); brother, Miron Bucik (Kazia); sister, Mary Wittner (Steve); grandchildren, Kayleigh, Brianna and Jack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends in FL, NJ and Poland.
Private services for Sophia will be held on a later date.
