

Terry E. Notari, 86, of Longboat Key, FL, passed peacefully at home on November 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. For the last 10 years, he courageously battled corticobasal degeneration, a rare neurologic disease. He kept his sense of humor, wit and incredible memory until then end.
His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family were the heart of Terry’s life. He found his greatest fulfillment in being a faithful follower, loving husband, father, grandfather - always putting God and family first.
He was born in Chicago, IL on November 6,1938.
Terry graduated from Austin High School in Chicago in 1956, and received his BSC degree in Business from Loyola University in Chicago in 1960.
He married his high school sweetheart, Carole Johnson, on November 20, 1960.
Terry had a 27 year career with IBM and retired in 1986 as Vice President of the International Group. After retiring, he managed the Presidential Commission for the Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution from 1986-1988, reporting to Chief Justice Warren Berger. From 1989-1996, he was an officer and Senior Vice President of System Software Associates in Chicago.
After moving to Longboat Key, he served many years on the Bay Isles Board, the Samaritan Counseling Services board, and held many leadership roles at First Sarasota Baptist Church.
He had a lifelong interest in history, and was an expert on WWII. He loved discussing current events, politics, and investing. He was an avid weight lifter, boater, fisherman and bird hunter. His passion was sailing, and he and Carole enjoyed over 1000 sailing days on Sarasota Bay.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; his daughter Carrie; his son Craig (Meg); his grandsons James, Josh (Kaylee), Peter, and Christopher; and his sister Patricia Golin (Howard). He was preceded in death by his parents Maude and Emil Notari.
The funeral service will be held at First Sarasota Baptist Church, 1661 N. Main St. in Sarasota on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11 AM. The doors will open at 10:15 AM and visitation will take place until 11 AM. A reception will follow the service.
