Wanda June Dennis

.Wanda June Dennis, daughter of Lawrence and Grace Horn and step-daughter of Pauline Horn. Sister of Phil, Carl, Caroline, Grace and Larry Horn. Wanda is survived by her loving children, son Dean and wife Christine, daughter Susan and husband John Patton, and son Daniel Dennis and partner Anna. Grandchildren include Nicole, Clifton, Alida, Kayly, David, Luke, and Jarod, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Wanda was married to Gerald Dennis in 1960 for 55 years. Previously widowed by Chalmer Miller Jr. after 5 years of marriage.

Graduated Elmhurst High in Ft Wayne, Indiana, in 1949 and Methodist Hospital Nursing School in 1952 where she received her registered nursing license (RN).

After graduation she became an evening supervisor at Lutheran Hospital, Ft Wayne.

She moved with the family to Northbrook, IL in 1965 and participated in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church choir. She actively volunteered in English as a Second Language (ESL), as Girl Scout leader, as a school nurse, and for a variety of other organizations that assisted women as need arose. Wanda was a season ticket holder of Lyric Opera where she enjoyed watching performances with her daughter, Susan.

She moved to Sarasota with her husband, Gerry, in1990 and joined the Faith Lutheran Church where she participated in the choir. She also volunteered at the woman’s exchange as well as enjoyed golfing with friends. As a lover of the arts, they were season ticket holder of the Venice Theatre. After retiring Wanda and Gerry were able to travel throughout the world & enjoyed experiencing the different countries & their cultures. She was preceded in death by her mother Grace, step-mother Pauline, father Lawrence, brothers Phil and Carl, sisters Nancy and Grace. Survived by her brother Larry Horn and wife Robin. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Sarasota Florida on January 21, 2017 at 2 :00 pm.
