Anthony C. Consentino Jr., known and loved by so many as "Mr. Tony," passed away on May 11, 2026, at his home in Tuckahoe, New York, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 86 years old.
Born on June 18, 1939, in the Bronx, New York, to the late Anthony and Sylvia Consentino, Tony grew up to become one of the most recognizable and beloved figures in the Bronx community. For more than 45 years, he owned and operated Mr. Tony's Fine Clothing Store, where his passion for fashion, handbags, and most of all, people, made the shop far more than a business. It was a gathering place, a neighborhood institution, and a reflection of the man behind the counter: bold, generous, and unforgettable.
Tony was a man who took tremendous pride in everything he touched, especially his home. His backyard was his personal paradise, and he spent countless hours perfecting his swimming pool and tending to his yard. Nothing made him happier than throwing open his doors and inviting everyone over for a swim, a meal, or one of the many wonderful occasions he and his wife Collette hosted over the years. His generosity was perhaps his most remarkable quality. He gave freely of his time, his laughter, and his heart.
And what a personality he had. Bold, deeply loving, and so sarcastically funny that you could not help but laugh even when the joke was on you. Tony had a way of making every person he met feel like they mattered, and that gift will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Collette Consentino; his son, Anthony; his daughter, Janet; his grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Gabrielle, and Lola; and a wide circle of friends and neighbors who considered him family.
A funeral service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, New York. May he find peace and rest in the care of a loving God.
We know how much everyone will miss our beloved Mr. Tony, as we will with broken hearts. He will be missed and never forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583, US, on May 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, with a live stream available at https://ihm-parish.org.
