Carol Blann died on July 2 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Carol, proud mother of Emily and Molly, and wife of 40 years to Jim, lived in both Edgemont and Manhattan. Carol had a long career in psychotherapy and was involved in many community leadership roles in Edgemont. Carol continued to be active professionally throughout her battle with Parkinson's. Eventually, Carol had to give up most of her psychotherapy practice, but was able to rekindle her love of photography and found ways to continue relationships with people, which she cherished.
Carol was born in Cincinnati on October 7, 1948 and grew up in Ohio and Michigan. She graduated from Miami University and earned a MSW from New York University as the springboard to her psychotherapy practice. Carol and her husband Jim were married in 1971 and later had two daughters.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jim, and her daughters, Emily and Molly. She is also survived by her mother Kathleen Shapiro, siblings Trish Weisman, Marnie Foster Marks, Dan Michaels, and Amy Shapiro. Carol is preceded in her death by her father, Miller Weisman, and her brother Steve Weisman.
Carol's strong presence is sorely missed by her family as well as her many long-time friends gained through her community, profession, and photography.
Donations should be considered to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, the Michael J Fox Foundation, and the International Center of Photography.
There will be a memorial service for friends and family to be announced at a later date.
