Gerard Joseph Pelisson of Eastchester, New York, passed away on December 7, 2023, after a brief illness. Gerard was born in the Bronx on July 31, 1943, to an Irish mother and a French father, and he graduated from St. Simon Stock School, Fordham Prep, Fordham University, and NYU Graduate School.
Gerard married Margaret Mary Carlin in Bayside, New York, in 1974. He's survived by his wife, sons David and Thomas, daughter-in-law Lucky, and three granddaughters, Sophia, Olivia, and Emme. His son Christopher predeceased him in 2015. Gerard was a New York City Social Studies teacher at DeWitt Clinton High School and Adlai Stevenson. He was the author of several skill books and co-author of The Castle On The Parkway, a history of DeWitt Clinton High School.
Gerard loved opera and classical music and learned to like Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, and John Denver. He was also a lover of classic cinema and enjoyed watching baseball, both the Mets and Yankees, with Margaret. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorely missed.
A visitation for Gerard will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church-Scarsdale, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Avenue, White Plains, NY 10603.
