Jacques Jospitre, Sr., MD, of Scarsdale, NY, passed away May 27, 2026, at age 82. He was born on May 6, 1944, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was a husband, father and grandfather who loved his family deeply.
He devoted his life to the practice of psychiatry. Over the course of his distinguished career, he worked at various medical institutions.
He was a very active member of the American Psychiatric Association / Black Psychiatrists of America and the National Association of Black Psychiatrists. He was awarded the title of Distinguished Life Fellow by the APA.
A deeply committed physician, Dr. Jospitre dedicated himself not only to his patients, but also to the education and mentorship of countless medical students and residents. He believed in academic excellence, hard work and living up to your fullest potential.
He lived by the ideal that every man can achieve greatness through hard work, discipline, and an unwavering belief in God.
