Lina Fava

Lina Fava passed away on July 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of strength, love, and resilience. Born on September 10, 1932, in Calabria, Italy, to the late Nicola Luigi Gravina and Raffaela Mancuso, Lina's journey was one of courage and profound dedication.

In 1966, Lina and her beloved husband Umberto, who preceded her in death in 2008, made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States with their children, eventually establishing their home in the Bronx, New York. Through years of hard work and countless sacrifices, they built a beautiful life and truly lived the American Dream.

Lina was a woman of remarkable character: strong, independent, and sharp-witted. She found joy in the simple things, particularly music and dance. Her home was always filled with the sounds of her favorite songs as she moved about her day. An exceptional cook, she took great pride in her kitchen, which was always open to family and friends. Known for her unique sense of style and love for shopping, she carried herself with grace and individuality that inspired everyone around her.

She is survived by her five children; Tarcisio (Liliana), Vilma (Mauro), Antonella, Raffaella (Nicola), and Mario (Teresa), as well as many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She now joins her beloved husband, Umberto, and her late siblings, Domenico, Mario, and Giuseppina, in eternal rest.

Lina will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the lessons she taught her family, will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home, 824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583, US, on July 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 53 Winter Hill Rd, Tuckahoe, NY 10707, US, on July 14, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:15 am.

A Committal Service will be held at St. Raymond's New Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, New York, NY 10465, US, on July 14, 2026, from 11:30 am to 11:45 am.
