Dewanda Lee Lawrence Woods

Dewanda was born June 4, 1943 in Walker County, Alabama to the late Virgil and Anna Lawrence. Also preceding her in death are her sister Faynell Hall, brothers David and Dorman Lawrence and great grandson Bryce Chalos.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, William O. Woods, daughter Kandy (Ronnie Sr.) Chalos, grandsons, Ronnie Jr. (Holly) Chalos, Jonathan Chalos, and Stephen (Jaki Chiattello) Chalos, two great granddaughters, Kaylee and Emma Chalos, brother Joseph (Chris) Lawrence, sisters Bertha (Earl) Dozier, Melba (Scott) Eads, sister-in-laws Ophelia (Edward Helliard) Willoughby and Jewel Tucker and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Woods bowled in various leagues and bowling allies in the area for over 40 years. She also loved to play gin rummy, do crafts and gardening. Her wide range of interests also included canning, word puzzles, fishing and NASCAR. But most of all she enjoyed and loved her family. She will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of loving her and knowing her.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave; Schererville, Indiana 46375) with Pastor Reecinda Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
