John Troy Svitek

John T. "J.T." Svitek, age 49, of Lake Village, IN, passed away peacefully and with dignity, on December 5, 2016 at Aperion Care of Demotte, IN with his loving family at his side. J.T. was born February 5, 1967 in Hammond, IN to John and Fay Joan (Hoover) Svitek, both who survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Cheryl (Dave Olesen), and Lora (Rick Cable); brother, Kevin Svitek; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and cousins. Preceding him in death is a girlfriend, Colleen B. J.T. graduated from Highland High School in 1985. After graduation, he worked for Van Till's in Hammond, before he started at Consumer's Roofing, where he worked for 10 years. He was a member of Roofer's Local #26. J.T. was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, and loyal Cub fan and Blackhawk fan. After being diagnosed with MS over 27 years ago, he fought a brave battle with no complaints. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, IN 46375).
