William Sandlin Sr.

WILLIAM SANDLIN, SR. "KENITH" LANSING, IL William "Kenith" Sandlin, Sr., age 76, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 6:45 AM at his residence in Lansing while surrounded by his loving family. He married Phyllis Nance-Sandlin (nee Sutter) on August 25, 1985 and she survives. William is also survived by his sons: William K. (Karen) Sandlin, Jr. of Houston, TX, Bryan K. (Xin) Sandlin of Houston, TX, and Chet A. (Leslie) Nance of Walton, IN; daughters: Kathi (Albert) Andrepont of Lake Charles, LA, Karyn (Steve) Schurwon of Broken Arrow, OK, Karla Rossignal of Lufkin, TX, and Kelli (Jack) Overturf of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Michael Lee (Mickey) Sandlin; sisters: Augustine (James) Miller, Judy Wheatly, Nancy Sandlin, Lennitta (George) Lundberg, and Kathie Tisdale. 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents: R.V. and Evelyn (nee Stevenson) Sandlin; sisters: Betty Louise Sickles and Januray Cummings. Also preceding William in death was his children's mother, Barbara Ann (nee Higgins) Sandlin while raising their six children in Texas City, TX. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Korea from 1956 until 1958. He worked as an electrician welder with IBEW Local 481 in Indianapolis, IN until his retirement in 1995. William was an avid fisherman who spent many a weekend on his pontoon boat in Michigan. He was also a very talented woodworker having made many items that he gave as gifts to family and friends. There will be a visitation for William on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service time at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
