Agathe Babbitt (Aggie, Payet), 74, Scottsdale, Az, passed away in the comfort of her own home. She was born September 24, 1946, on Praslin, Seychelles.

Married to Charles (Butch) Babbitt in Scottsdale, AZ June 20, 1992

She worked as a seamstress from a very young age. A skill she learned at two years old from her Mother in Seychelles. She worked for over 20 years at Stein Mart as the head seamstress and then started her own seamstress business. She was an exceptional seamstress and made all her granddaughter's amazing outfits growing up and often made clothes for us just by looking at pictures. Aggie loved dancing and listening to music, may it be with a grandchild listening to their Pop music to dancing the hoedown with Butch in their living room. She loved camping and was well known for her fire-starting abilities. She loved to watch classic shows and movies with her husband. Aggie was known for her generosity, kindness, acceptance, and her sense of humor. A laugh that could be heard and will be greatly missed. She was greatly loved and cared for by her husband of 28 years. He quietly took good care of our mom, which allowed for them to have a long and lasting relationship of 36 years until cancer took her away from us. He was always there by her side, sleeping next to her to the very end, and still does to this day. For that, we are eternally grateful to you, Butch.

Survived by Charles (Butch) Babbitt; sons David Strickland (wife Claudia) and Tomás Payet (wife Delta); 3 adopted daughters Brenda, Donna, and Sherry. Grandchildren Anais, Sadzi, Sol, Alex, Julian, Jaden, Matthew, and Patricia; Sibling Micheline (Michelle) Chetty. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins from around the world.

She was predeceased by Parents Anne-Marie and Réné Payet, son Jean Claude Strickland, siblings Thérèse, Hyacinth, Raymond, Ravinia, Jeanne, and Saddy.

Our mom was at once a scoundrel and a princess. She could roll up her sleeves and get muddy with the worst of 'em, then pick back up and walk alongside the queen, and you'd never know she hadn't always been a princess. She was loving, kind, and thoughtful. She loved to laugh and could always lift your spirits when you were down. She lived Joi de Vie. She loved her children and sometimes considered others as her own throughout her life.

When you met her, you instantly felt at ease as she drew you in with her comforting smile and her perky personality. Even in her last hours, she let you know she still had spunk! She wasn't leaving this world without the last say. She resisted all attempts to receive help unless she needed it. Even then, she would let you know it was reluctantly.

Through all of this, two years ago, she lost her youngest son and our brother, Jean-Claude, in a tragic collision. Although she didn't show it, we believe she never really recovered from this, as no parent would. It hurt her deeply, but she managed to keep moving forward with whatever life sent her way, enjoying every good moment while passing on every bad. She was truly a firecracker of a spirit, and we will miss her forever.

She will be in our thoughts forever. Rest In Peace in heaven, mommy.

Dear David, Tòmas and family.
We have been deeply saddened since hearing the news about your beautiful mum passing. Our dear Tante Agathe gave us so much love and attention after our mum passed away back in 1997.
She was a great pillar for us during the short time she spent with us. In the midst of our sorrows she made us laugh about old stories of when they were young. She was great fun. We will always cherished our time spent with Tante Agathe. The memories of her will never fade away. Sending you all our love in this time of sorrow.
Love always, Diane, Ellen, Jeanine, Miriam and the Sabadin family.
