September 23, 1953 – July 4, 2024
Alta June (Redden) Cordasco-Douglas, 70, of Glendale, AZ, passed away at home on her favorite holiday, the 4th of July, 2024. Alta always knew how to make a memorable exit!
Alta made her grand entrance into the world just minutes before her twin, Allen, and they were born on September 23, 1953, to loving parents Hazel and Woodrow Redden in Tempe, AZ. Throughout life, she remained close with her siblings, Ruth, Susan, Walt, Bill and Paul. She approached life with a sparkle in her eye, an open heart, and a penchant for adventure.
Alta dedicated over 40 years to positively caring for and influencing countless children as a foster parent, adoptive parent and then as co-owner and Director of a group home agency to create a safe space and advocate for at risk youth. She cherished her work, where she could connect with children and help them find a positive path in life. Alta was a beacon of encouragement to all and her kindness and limitless support were unmatched.
Alta’s zest for life was evident in her adventurous spirit. She enjoyed traveling, camping, cruising the seas, reading on the beach and creating exuberant displays for every holiday.
Alta embodied pride and joy in every moment shared with her nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, Alta's greatest love was her friends and family.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Herman Jan Cordasco (d. 1986) and Larry Eugene Douglas (d. 2015), brothers Bill and Paul, sister Susan and niece Margie Redden. Alta is survived by her daughters; Shauna (Jeff), Jennifer (Herbert), Regenia, Mary, Jana (Tony) and Tiffany; her sons; John, Robert, Justin, Dustin and Avery; fourteen grandchildren, Chyna (Matthew) Douglas, Kaylee and William Adams, Anthony Vela, Tatiyana, Darielle, Alizé, and Shawn Cordasco, Renee (Josh) Anderson, Matthew (Kelly) and Zara Laber, Linkin Douglas, Kaydence Livingston, Jaxon Alexander; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her many children of her heart, three siblings, Ruth (Mike) Miller, Walter Redden and her beloved twin, Allen Redden. Allen’s children and family were fully integrated into Alta’s everyday life, and as such Alta is survived by her special relationships with her nephews Walter Redden, and John (Val) Redden, nieces Carole Redden and Rachel Redden.
