Arlene Joyce Gordon was one of my very best friends although we didn't have many years and enough time to share our thoughts and dreams.  

Arlene was a brilliant, loving and fun woman and had so many talents.  I will miss her for the rest of my life and will always remember the many days we got toether at her home to sew, quilt, nosh and discuss our lives, family and the World in general.  

Arlene was one of the very few superb human beings I was fortunate to meet and know.  I will always miss her warmth, caring and love,

I knew Arlene Gordon for only half a decade, but I wish our friendship had lasted for so many more years.  We looked forward to almost weekly visits, having coffee and snacks, doing needlework, and being dear friends chatting.  Arlene was actually one of very few best friends of my lifetime, and we were both quite comfortable just being that.  She was a delightful, intelligent, and loving woman with so many years of knowledge and sharing of good thoughts.   I believe Arlene always gave more than she got and that pleased her immensely. Mrs. Gordon, 
The mother to not only her family but to so many of us children in the neighborhood where the Gordon family resided in Paradise Valley. I spent many nights as a guest of her daughter Teri who she cherished and I was privilege’s to glimpse into the lives of the Gordon’s. I was treated as one of the family and loved every minute of it. I learned how to pop popcorn by Mrs. Gordon and lots of it for some function she needed it for. She didn’t hesitate to put Teri and I right to work. When I married Mrs. Gordon was there to help my Mother with our home reception bringing over her cherished silver pieces used to serve food and drink. She also took me aside to tell me about the homemade quilts that I had received as wedding gifts, to tell me to put them away as they were very special and not for everyday use. I took her advice and still have those quilts to this day. The day came when I was at A store and saw Mrs Gordon giving a cooking demonstration. I watched and waited with my two year old curly red haired daughter. When she finished I said hello and you would have thought I had shown her the future  of her life as a grandmother! She exclaimed and praised aloud over my daughter and I just beamed she made me feel so proud! I learned so much about motherhood from Mrs. Gordon and I always used her example with my own children. I am grateful for it as they have all grown to be such wonderful loving spouses, parents and professionals in their own communities. I was so sorry to hears about Arlene’s passing   She and I were first cousins on the paternal side.  Her father and mine were brothers.  But we did not connect until a few years ago.  I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to finally learn about her. …And speak to her on the phone a few times. My condolences to her entire  family.. wishing you all peace. Renée Fineberg

I met Arlene through her daughter, Teri. Arlene then invited me to join a quilt group she belonged to, which has been such a blessing to me. Not only did I get to know Arlene better but the group members have become dear friends.  Arlene was a wonderful person, so talented and would lovingly share her skills, with a wonderful dose of humor! We will all miss her so much.

Arlene welcomed me into their family like I was one of her own children. She was always thinking of and doing things for others. She especially loved to make special quilts for family and friends. We will all miss her, but she will be remembered fondly be all.
