Arlene was born in Buffalo, New York on December 24, 1929 and raised in Odessa, Texas. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1946. After graduating she attended nursing school at Good Samaritan in Phoenix, Arizona receiving her certification in 1951. While in school she met Wilfred Gordon. They were married in 1954. They raised their three children in Paradise Valley, Arizona. As a couple they enjoyed traveling when they could. Arlene was very talented in the needle arts and she enjoyed teaching and sharing her skill with others in lectures and classes. She then found a new passion with her Portuguese Water Dogs, participating in dog shows and agility competitions even taking her dog Paco to championship status.
In 2005, Arlene and Wil retired to Dewey, Arizona where she kept busy with her quilting groups while quilting non-stop for as long as she could. Dogs and all animals brought her so much joy, including butterflies, hedgehogs and sea turtles.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Gordon and her parents Bert and Rose Fineg. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Fineg; her three children: Craig Gordon and his daughter, Tallulah Rose (his partner Diane and her children Alexander and Julia), Teri Lowrie (Gary), and Todd Gordon.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 16 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257. Following the graveside service, a reception will be held afterwards in the funeral home.
