Bernard David, 97, left us on May 25, 2018. He also left us with the memories of a man of unquestionable integrity and uncompromising wit. He was a lover of life who adored his children and happily spoiled his lovely wife.
Bernie was born on February 20, 1921 in New York City. His marriage to MaryAnn David was 60 years filled with joy and love. He always stood by his family with steadfast support no matter the difficulty. His family was his priority.
After high school, Bernie went to work as a young man and then joined the armed forces to defend his country. He later attended the University of Illinois and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He staved off matrimony until his heart was captured by MaryAnn in 1954. He never stopped loving her.
Bernie went in to become an accomplished Executive at Revlon where he worked with notable success for over twenty years. Bernie was indeed a dedicated worker, father, and husband.
Bernie was the only living member of his family of origin surviving his father Max, his mother Martha, and younger brother Marvin. Bernie is survived by his wife MaryAnn, his daughters Leslie Elliott, Laurie Delaney, his son Gary David, and his four grandchildren Ashley Shirk, Taylor Shirk and his fiancé Michelle, Connor David and his wife Abbey, and Allie David.
Bernard David was a feisty man of class, honesty, and sincerity. He made others laugh up until the day before he left us. At 97, his hearing had faded and his stride had slowed but he maintained the grace of a life well lived and an unmatched enthusiasm for his family. Simply, he was elegant.
