Carl was born and raised on his family's dairy farm in Shelbyville, Illinois. He was always extremely proud of his German ancestry. He married Joyce "Ione" Roley in 1949. Carl and Ione recently celebrated their 73rd anniversary. Their four children are Brenda, Bruce (Debbie), Becki and Bari. They were also blessed with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Carl, also known as Dad, Pops, Grandpa, and Gramps was a one of a kind type of guy, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
In 1959, the family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where they became charter members of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Carl soon became the Arizona State Egg Inspector until his retirement. He had a strong work ethic that was passed along to all his family. Carl and Ione enjoyed many summers at their cabin in Forest Lakes, Arizona. They traveled to many places over the years to sporting events, cruising, sightseeing and family vacations.
Carl had an infectious smile and enjoyed telling jokes and sharing stories. His words when parting company would be "just keep having fun". His family will carry on this legacy for generations to come.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, brother, two sisters as well as his son-in-law Amos.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2023, 2:00 PM at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257
