

Carl Eugene Hilliker, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, on February 9, 2021, at the age of 88. Carl was born October 13, 1932, in Silver Creek, NY. He met the love of his life, Constance Lou Hoisington, in high school and they were married on July 12, 1952, in Silver Creek, NY.
Carl, Connie, and daughter Cathy moved to Arizona in 1957. Carl was a master mechanic and began his career in the Scottsdale Unified School District as a bus mechanic. He worked his way up to Director of Transportation and then to Director of Maintenance and Operations. After retiring from SUSD, Carl sold school buses with Coach In Transit. Throughout his life, Carl enjoyed camping with his family, hunting, fishing, and playing Cribbage and other card games with friends and family. Carl treasured time with his family the most.
Carl will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was a mentor and friend to many. Memories of his sense of humor and generosity will never be forgotten. Carl is survived by Connie, his wife of 68 years; daughters Cathy Melear of Scottsdale; Carol of Phoenix; Carla Czyzewicz (Jim) of San Diego; Christy of Scottsdale; Carl Jr. of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren Sean Melear; Savannah and Lindsey Czyzewicz, Carson Hilliker; brothers Ernie of Silver Creek, NY; Dave of Phoenix; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held February 12, 2021, in the prayer garden at Mountain View Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Make A Wish (arizona.wish.org) in memory of Carl Eugene Hilliker, Sr. honoring his grandson Carson who is a leukemia survivor and wish recipient; or Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 4140 N. Miller Rd, 85251, where Carl was a long time member.
