Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for being who you are now and most of my life. Thank you for calling me the daughter that you never had. You were my Mom, best friend, mentor, cheerleader and now my forever inspiration as an artist. I will never forget the first time I met you when you gave me my first art lesson when I was 14 years old. You said "All right my dears, you must know that I sleep art, I eat art, I dress with art, I live art." You sure are all of that and more. Forever. I love you to the moon and back! If I get lucky enough like you to live to 100 that's when I'll see you on the other side.
Love you all ways and always,
Mary Carol xoxxo

I have known Charlotte since 1967. She became like a mother to me. We became very close. Charlotte was a mentor to me. She hired me to teach children drawing at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Soon after, Charlotte and Sam met my parents, Frank and Dorothy Ingrassia, They became lifelong friends.
Charlotte, from the beginning, was a powerhouse, a force of nature, a person to be reckoned with! She was so prolific, she was an artist in which color became her magic. She painted her whole life and taught painting in her Chicago studio.
Later in life, she wrote and told her story in "Stay Young to 100". She was a remarkable woman, a true renaissance woman . I loved her and I celebrate her well-lived life!

I have a vivid memory of Charlotte wearing one of her many pairs of cowgirl boots, ample turquoise jewelry, and doing a tequila shot at Mike Fisher's house when he still lived in Rockford. This was in her 80's; she lived life to the fullest. There are so many memories! She will be missed by all her Rockford friends. Wanda Hoover
