Our precious Mother, Cheryl Renee (DeWitt) Holthusen, 70, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, with some of her children by her side. She battled Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s with strength and fearlessness. Cheryl was born in Euclid, OH, on May 6, 1953.
Cheryl worked as a Registered Nurse, specializing in Orthopedics. She held several roles in her medical career, CNA, Nurse, Charge Nurse, and Assistant Director. Her patients always raved about the care that they received from her. Cheryl loved having the ability to take care of those that needed help.
She enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Cubs with her kids, even if they were bad that year. She loved shopping and could spend hours at one store. Her kids would often do laps trying to find her while she would hide and duck out of the way so that she could keep shopping. She spent summers going to Hayward, WI to fish and spend time with her family. The only movies she wanted to watch were comedies, and would laugh until she cried.
Her six children, who were her pride and joy, survive her: Tara (Spencer), Blake (April), Tammy (Bruce), April (Tim), Billy, and Griffin (Tiffany). Cheryl is also survived by her sister Linda Palass, and brother Bryan (Karen). Cheryl was also a proud Nana to Cole, Calvin, Carter, Autumn, Ella, Liberty, Ashlyn, William, Evelyn, Allison, Julia, Evan and Harley. She was Dog mom to Faith & Love, and Dog Nana to Lulu, Sunny, & Tilly.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth DeWitt.
Family and friends are invited to a service for Cheryl at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ on Friday, October 6th at 11 am.
Reception following at Bryan’s house in East Mesa, reception open to everyone
