Clair William Lane, of Tempe, Arizona decided to move on to the afterlife at age 75 on June 16, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with an aggressive Leukemia. He will join his son Micah, daughter Amy, brother John, and best friends Gary and Phil. He would like to mention the timing has absolutely nothing to do with ASU Football’s pending investigation. However, he does look forward to the investigation of the murder that took place in Arizona Stadium in November 2020 resulting in a 70-7 victory for the Sun Devils.
Born on April 3, 1946, in the Imperial Valley, California, Clair became a permanent Arizona resident putting down his roots in Tempe in the mid-50s. After graduating from Central High School in 1964 and Arizona State University in 1968, he then earned his Juris Doctorate from the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law in 1971.
Clair was a successful lawyer, land developer, past President of the Tempe Diablos and Tempe Touchdown Club, devoted father, and proud grandfather. He was the one person you’d call if you ever found yourself in a jam with the law—guilty or innocent. He also loved golfing, crossword puzzles, drawing maps instead of writing addresses, cheeseburgers made with onions and celery, Munds Park, Camp T, telling (or most often retelling) his best new bad joke, and being with family.
He is survived by his loving wife Debi, children Scott, Cassandra, and Mikail, and granddaughters Erica, Aubrey, Lucah, Paytlen, Hayslie, Wilder, and his 8-week old grandson Cameron William, who will grow to avenge his grandfather’s untimely death.
Funeral services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Arizona on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 2:00 pm.
