Connie married Peter Tata in 1934, who passed away three years later. She moved back to her parents’ home with her daughter, where she then began working for RCA. Seven years later, Connie married Edmund Space. Married for nearly 51 years, Connie was once again widowed at age 89.
She had a passion for sports: an avid golfer, bowler, and even a softball player. She also enjoyed watching baseball games on TV.
Over her 107 years, Connie lived through the sinking of the Titanic, the invention of sliced bread, the Great Depression, the start and ending of Prohibition, the invention of the Polaroid camera, the Civil Rights Movement, the invention of the internet, and 19 Presidents of the United States! Connie was the last of 11 children to pass away. Matriarch of a loving family, Connie is survived by her daughter, MaryAnn David, and her son-in-law, Bernie; her three grandchildren, Leslie Elliott, Laurie Delaney, and Gary David; and her four great-grandchildren, Ashley Shirk, Taylor Shirk, Connor David, and Allie David.
All of her caregivers would receive a big smile whenever they passed her, as she never complained and was always happy. When asked about her long life, she would respond very slowly, “I am lucky.”
Funeral arrangements will be held starting with Visitation at 9:30 AM and Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 23, at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, AZ.
