Daljit was born in December 1952 in Punjab, India, to the late Sardar Mohinder and Surjit Gill. The eldest of three siblings and the second eldest of 18 cousins, he grew up at the center of a large, close family, and he carried that sense of responsibility and belonging with him all his life. He earned his master’s degree in geology from Panjab University in Chandigarh.
After marrying his wife, Charanjit, he left India in 1977 for Arizona to build a new life. They began with very little, living in a trailer on a farm, and through hard work, determination and faith, he built a career he was proud of. He started at APS, where he made lifelong friends, and later worked at Motorola before founding his own company, GillTek Systems International, an IT staffing and technology consulting firm. GillTek was guided by a principle that reflected Daljit himself: build every relationship on respect. His story was one of grit and quiet pride, and he never forgot where he started.
Daljit had a rare gift for friendship. He could meet someone for the first time and, before long, make them feel as if they had been friends all along. The friends he made in Chandigarh and in high school stayed close for life, with many of them following the same path to Phoenix, where they built their lives and raised their families side by side. Together they formed a community that became an extended family, and Daljit cherished those bonds, along with the many friendships he made in Arizona, to the very end.
Golf was Daljit’s greatest passion. He loved playing it, watching it, and learning it. He was always working on his swing, studying the game and following the pros. He loved talking golf with anyone who would listen. He made golf trips a priority and played some of the finest courses in the world. He also saw bucket-list places, from Alaska to the Mediterranean.
Daljit was endlessly generous with his family and friends and made sure everyone was taken care of. Nowhere was that more true than with his grandchildren, whom he spoiled far more than he ever spoiled his own kids, with generous trips to Target, gummy bears on demand, and afternoons watching golf and movies together. To them he was Nana and Dada, and he loved every minute of it.
Above all, Daljit loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charanjit; his children and their spouses, Jennifer & Sunny, Jasmine & Mandeep and Dave & Jasmine; his grandchildren, Sachneet, Diya, Kavir, Baaz, Khem and Aiden; his brother and sister-in-law, Sukhdev & Baljeet Gill; his sister and brother-in-law, Kuldeep & Jagjit Tatla; and many cousins, relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, followed by the Antim Ardas and Bhog at 1:00 p.m. at Arizona Sikh Gurdwara in Phoenix
