David Myers Bosworth

August 22, 1937 – April 8, 2026
Obituary of David Myers Bosworth
IN THE CARE OF

Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery

David Myers “Dave or Boz” Bosworth, 88, of Portland, Oregon, died April 8, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dave was born August 22, 1937, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Harlan P. Bosworth Jr. and Marie Myers Bosworth. The youngest of four children, he spent his early years in Klamath Falls before the family moved to Medford, Oregon. He attended Medford High School, where he served as vice president of the Student Body Council and played varsity football as a starting running back— despite standing 5'6" and weighing 155 pounds, a testament to his athletic ability and drive. Dave attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a degree in business. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and ROTC and was active in student leadership, serving in student government and holding representative and class-officer roles. In 1959 during a college hiatus, Dave’s sense of adventure led him to drive the Pan American Highway from Texas to Costa Rica in a VW bug with lifetime friend Paul Adams. After college, Dave sought opportunities that combined three priorities: staying close to family, living in Oregon, and working in international business. He began his career in export at U.S. Plywood and then in wood-products export for several Oregon companies and living and working in India in 1964 and Singapore in 1970. Dave developed a deep expertise in establishing export markets for Pacific Northwest mills. In 1980, Dave founded Euro-Pacific International Corporation (“EPIC”), an export trading company. EPIC specialized in shipping highly engineered wood products —including plywood, particleboard, MDF, lumber, and building materials—to buyers across Asia and Europe. Under his leadership, EPIC became a respected link between Pacific Northwest manufacturers and international markets — a testament to his relationship building skills. In 1989, Dave married Susan (Pletsch) Foster—a successful pattern designer, author/publisher, and entrepreneur. Together, Susan and Dave shared a love of travel and snow skiing, and they took pride in building and operating successful businesses, entertaining friends, and caring for family. Dave enjoyed time snow skiing in Oregon and Sun Valley, Idaho and water skiing on the Willamette River or Lake of the Woods. He also treasured time with friends at the Portland Golf Club and Arizona Country Club, and was a lifelong member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, Dave felt a strong connection to Oregon. He worked hard to maintain ties, and he frequently ran into Oregon acquaintances during business trips to Asia or Europe—a reminder that the world is small. Dave treated everyone with respect and care. He was also a faithful, lifelong fan of the Oregon Ducks, gathering with family to watch games and, as he loved to do, “blow his Oregon Duck quacker.” Dave is survived by his wife, Susan Foster; his sister, June B. Hughes; and his brother, Robert L. Bosworth, and by three generations of loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harlan Page Bosworth IV.

Celebrations of life will be held at later dates in both Portland and Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harlan and Marie Bosworth Scholarship at Southern Oregon University, or to the Oregon Food Bank.
