He was born December 22, 1939 in Akron, Ohio to Steve and Julia Kmetko. David was the youngest of two children. He married Dani Wood January 26, 1963 in Phoenix, AZ. They were blessed with four children.
David worked at Aireseach/Honeywell for 40 years. Over that time he worked his way from machinist to leadership. He was a co-worker, boss, friend and mentor to many.
David was dedicated to his company but found his true passion in coaching. He began coaching his young kids in South Scottsdale Little League and Pop Warner Football. He was a pioneer and founding member of Scottsdale Invitational Baseball League in the 1970’s and continued coaching baseball and football at Gerard Catholic High School. He positively influenced, touched and shaped countless lives.
A man of faith, family and sports he lived his beliefs in word, deed and action. He was a devoted husband and father whose ultimate dedication was to his family. He tackled life with grit and determination and met any challenge with perseverance. His was a life well lived.
David is preceded in death by his parents and will be dearly missed by his survivors: wife of 58 years, Dani Kmetko; his sons, Stephen (Shani), Brian (Renee) and Dennis; daughter, Deanna Porter (Michael), Hermosa Beach, CA; grandchildren, Tyler Kmetko (Sarah), Monique Castillo (Travis), Madi, Maddie, McKenna, Jaxson, Kolby, and Kennedy; 10 great grand children; sister, Beverly Van Dorp of Tempe, AZ; sister-in-law, Jeri Bruner (Doug) of St. George, Utah; and many nieces and nephews he loved.
