David Edward Reading , 76, of Gilbert, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle was called back home Sunday, March 4, 2018. Born July 22, 1941 in Elmira, New York to Henry Edward and Alice Lilly Reading.
David earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in Business Education from ASU. He taught business classes at Maryvale High School in Phoenix. He volunteered serving as a Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America for many years, leading countless boys to become good citizens, strong men, and community leaders. David loved the Arizona wilderness, spending much of his time camping, hiking, fishing and exploring. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his 5 children – Michael Reading; Laura (Wes) Wright; Scott (April) Reading; Jared (Mandi) Reading; Johnny (Stacy) Reading; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, his sister Jean (Raymond) Webb, and brother Paul (Jane) Reading along with many nieces and nephews.
He will be so very missed by all who love and honor him. David’s greatest legacy is his accomplished family, in which he took great pride. His parents; sister, Mary Jane Subia, and sweetheart of 30 years, Georga Arnold Oates, precede him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. March 10, 2018 at the Green Acres Funeral Home, 401 N. Hayden Rd. in Scottsdale. Burial will also be at Green Acres Cemetery, the same address.
