Donald Ray Grosvenor, age 84, passed away at home March 15, 2019. He was born December 10, 1934 in East St. Louis, Illinois to John and Genevieve Grosvenor. He married Gerri Belin in 1957 in Chillicothe, MO. He graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1952. He attended Central Bible Institute and graduated from Belin Memorial University in 1957. He was awarded 2 honorary PhD doctorates. He began his ministry by evangelizing across America. In January 1960, the birth of Phoenix Christian Assembly was transformed from a dream to a reality. With his interest and love for missions, he visited 40 countries. He spearheaded the building of 8 churches on foreign soil. Under his leadership, PCA has sponsored and supported 30 different mission endeavors around the globe. In addition, PCA established Christian Challenge Academy in 1971. In 1988 Phoenix Christian Day Care was added.
His love for Southern gospel music motivated him to become a promotor of concerts. He developed strong personal relationships with many of the great personalities. A few of his favorite things were the St. Louis Cardinals, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and his dog Romeo.
He is survived by his wife Gerri of 62 years. He was a loving father to Steve (Lori), Dan, Becca (Bobby); a cherished grandfather of Randy, Jonathan, Joel (Vanessa), Matthew (Krystal), David, Mitchell, Mariah Rose, and great-grandson Andrew; a dear brother to Wes (Elaine); a fond uncle to Tom (Laurie), Cindy (Jim), and Todd. He was preceded in death by parents John and Genevieve, sister Melba Rose, and son David. He will be forever in our hearts.
His life will be celebrated Saturday, March 23, at Phoenix Christian Assembly. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. The graveside will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
