Dorothy D Darden

Dorothy Darden, born June 18, 1937 in Corning, AK, passed away July 26,2026 at the age of 89 with her three children by her side. Dorothy is survived by her two sons Rob Darden (Michelle) and Kip Darden (Dana) and her daughter Missy Darden Carter. Also, by her grandchild Robert James (RJ), Nicholas, Jacob, Mitchell, Ryan and Jaycee, and two step grandchildren JP(Araceli) and Michael(Kayla).

Dorothy moved to Arizona at the end of WWII, in 1945 at the age of 7. She attended North Phoenix H.S and graduated in 1955. She went on to attend Arizona State university graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1959 and a Master of Arts in Education in 1969. She met her husband Robert G. Darden while attending the university and they married on May 30, 1959.

Dorothy and her husband made family, friends, and serving the Lord their priority, all the while enjoying life fully. When their three children became involved in soccer, Dorothy learned to referee soccer and helped coach her daughter’s soccer teams. At church Dorothy played the organ for many years. Their home was always a welcoming place for their children’s friends, neighbors, and many others. Family vacations including camping up river on Lake Powell fishing and waterskiing are still favorite memories of her three children. Somehow Dorothy was able to give of her time even while balancing a successful career in the banking industry working her way up from executive secretary to manager and an assisted vice president. Upon retirement Dorothy and Bob enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, continuing the tradition of visiting family and friends across the United States and into Canada.

When Dorothy became a widow in 1999, she continued to live and love life despite the challenges of grief and loss. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cabin she and her husband built in the cool pines of Munds Park, AZ. She also took time to travel around the world including Israel, Egypt, Mexico, and Africa. Dorothy was and continues to be a beautiful example for living and giving to others. Dorothy will be missed but we rejoice knowing she has reunited with family and friends in heaven, and she is with Jesus.
