She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends.
Edith was born on August 5, 1924 to Ruth and William Maloney in Alliance, Ohio. Growing up in a house with 8 siblings, Edith yearned for wide open spaces. So. . . after 10 years of marriage in 1955, she and Laverne, with their two boys, packed up their truck and moved to the Arizona desert in search of their dreams. Arizona living brought adventure, fun and the addition of two daughters to their family. Living in the beautiful wide open desert was Edith’s great love. She possessed a pioneering spirit all her life.
A celebration in her honor will be held on January 7, 2017 in Glendale, Arizona. Those wishing to make a donation are asked to give to a charity close to their heart in Edith’s honor.
DON’T FENCE ME IN
Lyrics by Cole Porter
“Oh give me land, give me lots of land under starry skies above
Don’t fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don’t fence me in
Let me be by myself in the evenin’ breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever, but I ask you please
Don’t fence me in”
