Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 1, 2020 in Tempe, Arizona. Emerita was a native Arizonan and is most cherished for her love of family and friends. She dedicated her life to raising her children, as well as many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was unmatched in her kindness, generosity and care for others. You could often find Emerita in her living room dancing alongside the children to her favorite tunes from Elvis Presley and Vicente Fernandez. She really loved her music and she loved to dance! You could also find her at a poker table or at the casino. She wasn’t too lucky at the slots but she was pretty darn good at poker, and it was one of her favorite pastimes with her brother Manny and her sister-in-law Tina. The open loving arms of Emerita and Benito, combined with good Mexican cooking, meant the Perez household was always full with joy and laughter of friends and family. In her youth, Emerita was an outstanding softball player for the Arizona Ramblers, National Champions fast pitch softball team in Phoenix, AZ. She was an avid fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns and never missed watching the games on TV. She is survived by her husband Benito Perez Sr. and her children, David (Kathy), Christina (JD) and Lenny (Kristine). Her grandchildren Corina, Adam, Nicole, Julio, Pablo, Kayla, Allene, Joe, Erica, Richard, Candi, Joey, Zeke, Nate, Gabriel, Angelica, Raquel, Selena, Richard, Kyle and Nick. Among her great-grandchildren are Issiah, Isabella, Dominic, Dax, Liam, Reagan, Emilio, Alonso, Romeo, Luciano, RJ, Antonio, Xiomara, Raymond, Mariah, Luke, Jayden, Ryder, Simone and Krystal. Mom was undoubtedly given a grand party upon arrival in Heaven by her predeceased sons Benito Jr, Louie, Arthur and Danny (known as rebel Perez brothers but actually “mama’s boys” at their core!). Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 14 with a Visitation at 9:00am at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale AZ 85257, followed by lunch at the home of Christina and JD Grado. A Catholic Mass in honor of Emerita will be planned for a later date.
