Ercie Johnson, 96, of Scottsdale, Arizona, went home to the Lord at 3:30 am Sunday April 22, 2018. Funeral services in her honor will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 6:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257.
Ercie was born August 31, 1921, in Witt Springs, Arkansas to Walter and Calla (Dean) Blackwell. She married her husband, Olin Johnson on June 5, 1940, he preceded her in death January 2, 1997. She graduated from American High School of Chicago. During WWII, she served her country by working in the local factory. She also worked for May Co. Dept. store in Buena Park, CA: JCPenney in Fullerton, CA; and was a bookkeeper for Anaheim Metal Spinning. However, her greatest achievement was being a Domestic Engineer, and raising her children. She loved to crochet, needlepoint, and sew. She also was an avid gardener, and enjoyed flower arranging.
Ercie is survived by her Daughters; Judy Robertson of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jackie Bagwell of Benton, Arkansas, and Charlotte Gansereit (Greg) of Union City, Tennessee; Grandchildren: Tom Robertson, Jon Robertson, Jennifer Pollak (Dan), Jason Segeda (Jennifer), Sarah Michau, Jake Gansereit (Renae), Kurt Gansereit (Joyanne), and Johanna Howard (Ronny), and 18 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Ercie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Ercie was a follower of Jesus Christ. After giving her heart to him in 1950, she served him in many ways. She taught Sunday school, hosted Good News Club in her home, and worked in VBS. She also enjoyed running church errands. Ercie would spend her time taking care of people who became ill, by taking them to the doctor, picking up prescriptions, taking meals to them, or sometimes just sitting and visiting with them. Her passion was– The Bible and Prayer. She was a true servant of the Lord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Thru the Bible” 1146 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91106.
