Erwin Charles “Banny” Bannenberg, age 92, of Phoenix, formerly of Milwaukee, WI, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Ellen and Irvin Bannenberg, and his wife of 67 years, LaVon P. Skutley, who died May 6, 2015. He met LaVon on June 24, 1950 and she was the love of his life. Survived by son David (Amy) of Chandler, Beth of Phoenix; and grandchildren Samantha (Tyler), DJ, Jonathan, Lindsey and Blake (Haley). Erwin “Banny”, like so many others of his generation, joined the US Navy and proudly served aboard a hospital ship, the USS Solace, during WWII. Upon return, he went to school on the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Education and followed up with a Masters. Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday April 29, 2017 with a visitation at 9:00am and funeral service at 10:00am.
