

On Sunday, December 25, 2022, Frances May "Fran" McLain, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 86, five days before her birthday and two weeks before her 69th wedding anniversary. Fran brought joy to many and will be fondly remembered.
Fran was born on December 30, 1935 to Thaddeus and Karline Hewlett in Kentucky, moving to Arizona as an infant. Fran grew up in Bisbee, Arizona and on January 8, 1954, she married Kenton McLain of Miami, Arizona.
Fran lived with her family in a few Arizona towns, settling in Tempe in 1967. She started working for Motorola in 1968, where she had a 26 year career before retiring in 1994. Fran was an integral part of her grandchildren's lives. In 2020, Fran and her husband moved to Scottsdale to be near one of her daughters. It proved to be a nice move that she had looked forward to for several years.
Fran enjoyed singing, sign language, knitting, traveling, Ladies Bible class, and was active with Camelback Church of Christ and their associated Helping Hands for Copper Basin Bible Camp in Prescott.
Fran was preceded in death by her siblings, Lucille "Lu" McBee, Thaddeus "Thad" Hewlett, Mary Edith "Edy" Bailey, and Margaret Wittig.
She is survived by her husband, Kenton, her children, Janet (Robert) Faulkner of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Karen McLain of Apache Junction, Arizona. Also, grandchildren Kevin (Brittany) Faulkner of Springfield, Virginia, and Lisa (Noah) Robinson of Scottsdale, Arizona, plus great grandchildren, Hannah and Daniel Faulkner, along with Morgan and Jacob Robinson.
A memorial service honoring Fran will be held at Camelback Church of Christ at 11:00am on Monday, January 16, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, Fran requested a donation in her name to Copper Basin Bible Camp, c/o Camelback Church of Christ, 5225 E. Camelback Rd, Phoenix AZ 85018.
