

Harry Austin Jennings was born 6/11/1936 in Columbia City, Indiana, son of the late Charles and Mildred (Gay) Jennings. Harry joined the U.S. Navy in 1955, deployed on the USS Hanson, Machinist 2nd Class. He was honorably discharged in 1959. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona the same year. He married his 1st wife Sharon Tugwell in 1961. They were blessed with 2 daughters Debra & Cindy. Their marriage ended in 1977, and he married his 2nd wife, Janet Minard who had been blessed with 2 daughters from a previous married (Shelle & Cate). Harry was a welder by trade and also became a City of Phoenix Police Officer in January 1965. During his off duty service with the Police Department he achieved and AA in Business and continued his welding and wrought iron projects. After 20 years of distinguished service with the Phoenix PD, serving the last 11 years in the Homicide Detail, he retired in January 1985. Harry & Jan moved to Prescott, Arizona in 1988/ During this time Harry was a surveyor, handy man, house builder and a woodworker. Due to health issues, Harry & Jan moved back to Phoenix to be close to family, in 2020. Harry is survived by his wife Jan, daughters Debra (Craig) and Cindy, Shelle (Jeff) and Cate (Britton), grandchildren Douglas (Eden), Matthew (Vanessa), Acacia and Laura; 8 great grandchildren, sister Janet (Fred), step-sister Rosalie (John). He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Mary, Brother Wilbur, grandson Noah, step-father Ken, half-brother Kenneth, step-sister Shirley, step-brother Phil.
Throughout Harry's 85 years on this earth, he was very giving and kind with his family and dear friends. His wit & sense of humor enlightened everyone. Playing card games was his entertainment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Harry's name to the 100 Club, or Savior Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be 10 AM Friday, July 2, 2021 at Green Acres Mortuary, (Agave Venue), 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257. Interment Green Acres Cemetery.
