Our dad, Haung Keng Sauv, (nicknamed Han) was born in Kampot, Cambodia on Jan. 04, 1939. He was educated in Phnom Penh and Paris. He worked as an agricultural engineer.
During the Cambodian Genocide, he tragically lost his first wife (Sauv Muyleng) and his son (Sauv Sokra) which was a great source of pain for him throughout his life. He shepherded his two daughters to safety during challenging times transitioning back to life in Cambodia after the Genocide. He remarried and we became a family of six with four daughters. He had the vision and courage to plan a path for us to the United States which involved many obstacles and risks. With careful planning, luck, and by the grace of God we were able to come and build a life in the United States.
During the early days in the United States, he braved our new world to secure employment to provide for his family. Within 2 years, we were able to move from apartment living to a modest home in Central Phoenix. He took jobs in manufacturing wherever he could find. He also worked with the World Relief Organization as a case worker to help other Cambodians adjust to their new life. He took classes in biology and was able to work as a microbiologist later in his career. He earned modest wages and lived modestly but the opportunities he provided his children, grandchildren, and extended families are enormous.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, planting trees, gardening, trying different foods, traveling and French culture. Some of his travels included Rome, London, Paris, Dublin, Costa Rica, Montreal, Hawaii, and other cities all over the US.
He passed away on July 26, 2025 with immeasurable accomplishments. His family is greatly saddened by this monumental loss but we are so proud of him and honored to have had him in our lives. He is survived by his loving wife Malis of 45 years and his loving four daughters Kati (husband Dan), Rita, Davy (husband Arthur), and Sanit. He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren Derek, Krystle (husband Connor), Leo, Madeline, Kai and extended families. We thank our mom for the great care she provided him. May he be reunited with his lost loved ones and rest in peace. He is our Hero and our Forever
